As the founder of the luxury lingerie consulting brand Velvette, Ava Monrose has helped hundreds of women rediscover their confidence in the bedroom and their everyday lives.
We sat down with the London-based consultant to discuss why lingerie is so much more than lace and straps and how it can be a secret weapon when it comes to desire.
The Sin Edit: Ava, let’s start with your story. What led you to launch Velvette?
Ava Monrose: I was working in fashion merchandising, and I noticed something: the lingerie department was always treated like a side note—but it was the one place women really lit up when they shopped. I started helping friends choose pieces that flattered their bodies and made them feel sexy before anyone else saw them.
That confidence shift? It was instant. That’s how Velvette was born—a mix of style, seduction, and self-celebration.
The Sin Edit: Why do you think lingerie plays such a powerful role in attraction?
Ava Monrose: Lingerie is about storytelling—it creates anticipation. It’s the difference between being naked and being undressed.
When a woman puts on lingerie that fits beautifully and feels luxurious, she steps into a different version of herself—bold, in control, desired. Men don’t just react to what they see, they react to how we feel in our own skin.
Lingerie gives you that edge.
The Sin Edit: What’s the most common mistake women make when it comes to lingerie?
Ava Monrose: Thinking it’s just for men. That’s the first thing I work on breaking down with my clients. Lingerie isn’t about pleasing someone else—it’s about elevating your own pleasure and presence.
When a woman chooses pieces that she loves, she becomes magnetic. Men are drawn to that energy. You’re not wearing it for them—you’re inviting them into your world.
The Sin Edit: Can you share a moment with a client that really stayed with you?
Ava Monrose: Yes—there was a newly divorced woman in her 40s who came in and told me, “I want to feel like I’m still someone a man would crave.” I styled her in a deep emerald lace set, soft tulle robe, and satin garters.
When she saw herself in the mirror, she cried—not because of how she looked, but because of how she felt. She ended up booking a weekend away with her new partner, wearing nothing but that robe when he walked in.
She said he didn’t stop touching her all night. That’s lingerie magic.
The Sin Edit: If you could give every woman one piece of lingerie advice, what would it be?
Ava Monrose: Don’t save your best pieces for special occasions. You are the occasion. Wear silk to bed, lace under your jeans, and a matching set to the grocery store. Lingerie isn’t about performance but permission to feel sensual every day.
Editor’s Note:
Ava Monrose reminds us that lingerie isn’t just about seduction but sovereignty. At Velvette, every piece is chosen not just to attract, but to empower.
